Harnew Family,

I would like to welcome everyone to the 2024-2025 school year. I hope everyone found time to play outside and read this summer. The Harnew Staff and I are excited about this school year! This school year we will continue to provide a rigorous education in a safe environment. Please trust that the Harnew staff puts your child’s safety and educational needs first. 

As a parent of three school aged children I understand that it is difficult to assist my students in their educational process. Just like you I can not be at school with them! But there are some basic things we can help with to ensure that our children are prepared for school daily;

• We can arrange for our students to be on time to school everyday. Students are late if they arrive after 8:50am. The arrival time for Harnew is 8:40am to 8:50am. A good start to the day is very important. Harnew will provide students with breakfast. 

• We can ask our children what was something educational they experienced during the day. I often ask “how was your day?” “Fine” is a typical answer. Asking “What did you do in math or reading today?” allows for a more educational answer. 

• We can provide a quiet space for our children to do their homework or read after school. 

• We can also have our children put their game systems down at a decent time and go to bed at an early hour.

• We can make sure to establish a pattern of good attendance. Every day absent is a day of learning missed. 

Together we can ensure that our children receive the best education possible. Involved and engaged families foster student success, so I want to thank you in advance for all of the time you will be dedicating to be there to support your child’s education. You are not alone in this journey, the Harnew Team works very hard to ensure your child receives a rigorous education.
